Japan Kelantan Transcultural Academic Exchange (JEKTRA 2025) Strengthens UMK's Global Academic Collaboration
THURSDAY I 4 SEPTEMBER 2025 – The Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), will host the Japan–Kelantan Transcultural Academic Exchange (JEKTRA 2025) from 29 August to 3 September 2025 at Min House Camp, Kubang Kerian.
The programme will bring together 14 students from Rikkyo University, Tokyo, Japan, a prestigious private institution, for an immersive cultural and academic exchange experience with UMK.
Organised under the leadership of Programme-in-Charge (PIC), Mr. Azri Hafifi, Japanese Language Teacher at UMK, the initiative aims to foster cross-cultural understanding, academic networking, and international collaboration.
Programme Highlights
Throughout the six-day programme, participants will engage in a variety of activities, including:
• Cultural Immersion Visits to iconic Kelantan landmarks such as Siti Khadijah Market, Istana Jahar, Masjid Muhammadi, Wat Phothivihan, and Masjid Kampung Laut.
• Experiential Activities including batik painting at Nordin Batik, firefly-watching, and organic garden projects organised by the local homestay.
• Academic Engagement featuring a campus tour of UMK Bachok, a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, and sharing sessions led by academic experts.
• Closing Ceremony on 2 September 2025, which includes speeches by the Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development and Prof. Dr. Masutani, presentations by Japanese students, and a group photo session.
The programme will conclude with a farewell dinner and cultural visits, further strengthening bonds between Rikkyo University and UMK.
